| Penn Wynne Running Club |
|
Have you been talking about getting in better shape this summer?
There's still time. Come on out and join the Penn Wynne Running Club ("PWRC"). While running in the mornings I see many of our neighbors and wonder why we're not running together...
The PWRC is a relaxed club for those who want to get in better shape and at the same time meet some neighbors.
All levels of runners welcome. You'll set your own pace and distance.
The PWRC meets at the corner of Haverford and Manoa every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning at 6:30 AM sharp (rain or shine)!
Come on out tomorrow morning and give it a try!

| Penn Wynne Signage |
|
Many of you have inquired about the new cement foundations at the Manoa/Haverford intersection and in front of the library. These new foundations will hold directional signage which will point visitors to the library, business district and parking area. Also coming soon are "Welcome to Lower Merion" signs which will be erected along Haverford Avenue notifying visitors that they have entered Lower Merion and Penn Wynne. Keep your eyes out for these signs. |
| Neighborhood Improvements |

Penn Wynne Business District Parking Lot
This week the Township will begin improvements to the Penn Wynne Business District Parking Lot. These improvements will include resurfacing, restriping, new signage and new landscaping. The changes should also result in more parking in the lot. The project should take approximately one week to complete and the lot will be closed during that time. Alternate parking can be found on Manoa Road...north of Haverford.
Penn Wynne Park Bathroom Renovations
Last week the Board of Commissioners approved bids from contractors to renovate Penn Wynne Park's Bathrooms. Look for the project to start soon!

| Neighborhood Safety |
|
| Crime
While we have experienced a low number of crimes committed in the neighborhood this summer, there have been several incidents I want you to know about:
1) On Monday, a Temple University student (and football player) was jogging near the 100 block of Trent Road when he was attacked by four youths. It is not known where the attackers are from but it seems they intended on mugging him. The victim fought back and managed to successfully fend off his attackers. Unfortunately, the victim did not report this attack to police until 24 hours had elapsed. The Lower Merion Police Department has spoken with the victim and are patrolling the area. PLEASE remember to report any suspicious activity to the police and report any crimes when they occur - regardless of how significant you perceive them to be. Police have stepped up their patrols in the area.
2) Several unlocked cars were entered and spare change was taken on July 2 and 3. In addition, a van was stolen from Rolling Road. Please remember to lock your car doors. Failure to do so only invites opportunists looking for an unlocked door and makes our neighborhood more susceptible to crime.
3) A suspect attempted to burglarize a home on Remington and Haverford. One of the home's occupants noticed the man and called the police who immediately responded and apprehended the intruder.
Penn Wynn Public Safety Committee
The Penn Wynne Public Safety Committee has started meeting. For more information (including a list of the participants) see the article on my webpage ( www.lancerogers.com). The committee will meet throughout the summer and early fall with the goal of making recommendations aimed at making our neighborhood safer which will be unveiled and implemented in October or November.
