Neighbors:
At 10:33 AM a pharmaceutical delivery truck arrived at the rear door of Howard's Pharmacy on Manoa Road. While unloading, the delivery person noticed a suspicious looking male who was approaching from across the parking lot . It was at that point that he realized that the suspect began to produce a handgun. The delivery person immediately ran into Howard's and instructed an employee to call 9-1-1. The suspect fled in a newer model red Cadillac - headed south on Overbrook Parkway towards City Ave.
The Lower Merion Police Department has described the suspect as a black male in his 20's with a goatee. The car was driven by a black male. Unfortunately, no other descriptions are available.
Nothing was taken. Thankfully, no one was injured.
The Police Department is investigating the incident and is pursuing any and all leads. If you saw anything which you think could be helpful, please contact the Lower Merion Police Department on their non-emergency number at (610) 649-1000.
I will be meeting with Police Superintendent Joe Daly in the next few days to learn more about this incident and how it is being addressed.
I am deeply concerned about the number of incidents we have experienced in the neighborhood in the past year. I want you to know that I am not taking this lightly.
Tonight I am announcing the formation of a new committee designed to work with me in identifying public safety issues and implementing real solutions. The committee will be limited to 10 or 15 members of our neighborhood who are committed to dedicating serious attention to this issue. I anticipate that we will meet throughout the summer and will report back to the community in September with a feasible public safety plan for our neighborhood.
Together, with a little hard work, we will make a difference. Let me know if you're ready to stand up and join me in this challenge.
